Driver of ‘killer bus’ surrenders in Davao City
By Jeffrey M. TupasDAVAO CITY, Philippines—The driver of the bus that rammed a taxicab, killing journalist Lourdes “Chit” Estella-Simbulan, surrendered here Thursday night.
Simbulan died on Friday last week when the taxi she was riding in was hit by a passenger bus along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
The bus driver, Daniel Espinosa, went into hiding after the accident.
He surrendered to Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
Espinosa, who is now in the custody of the city police, will be flown to Manila, Friday morning, according to Duterte.
